



Babson Park, Mass. - March 26, 2012 - After a standout performance in her first outdoor meet of the season, Springfield College senior Kelly Curtis was chosen as the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Women's Field Athlete of the Week.Curtis had a great showing to kick off the outdoor season in leading Springfield College to claiming the Jerry Gravel Classic crown on Saturday at Westfield State. Curtis recorded a leap of 1.55 meters to earn the victory in the high jump. The senior standout also earned points as the runner-up in the javelin throw after registering a toss of 38.25 meters.
She also won both the 100 meter hurdles in 15.46 seconds.
Jim Pennington enters his 29th season as head coach of the Springfield College women’s cross country and track and field teams in 2012-2013. Under Pennington’s direction, the Pride has recorded seven top 20 finishes at the NCAA Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field Championships, and seven top 15 finishes at the NCAA Cross Country Championships.
