Williamstown, Mass. - October 2, 2013 - The Springfield College women's soccer team had its three-game winning streak snapped on Wednesday after dropping a 2-0 decision to Williams in non-conference play.
For the Pride, which was ranked 24th in the country in this week's NSCAA National Poll, it was just the second time in nine games that it was held without a goal. Springfield is now 6-3 on the year, while the Ephs improved to 4-1-2.
Williams held a 23-9 edge in shots for the game, including an 18-2 edge in the first half. Sarah Myers (Bridgewater, Mass.) was charged with the loss in goal, despite making seven first half saves.
Nicole Fowler (Maynard, Mass.) finished the day with three shots, while Julia Cormier (New Bedford, Mass.) had Springfield's only two shots on goal.
The game's first goal came in the 25th minute off an unassisted marker by Katie Wardlaw. The Ephs added to their lead in the 58th minute after Wardlaw connected with Alison Magruder for an insurance tally.
After four-straight away games, Springfield will return home on Saturday for a key conference showdown with Babson beginning at 12:00 pm.
