



Springfield, Mass. -- March 4, 2011 -- Ty Evans of the Springfield College men's gymnastics team has been named the College Gymnastics Association NCAA Gymnast of the Week in his division. It is his third such award this season.It is also the seventh time Evans has been so decorated in his three-year career.
A junior from San Jose, Calif., Evans had a great individual performance in his team's loss to Temple University this past Friday (Feb. 25). Ty won the all-around with a score of 85.300. He also tied for first in the vault (15.400), tied for second in the floor exercise (13.500), tied for second in the rings (14.300), finished third in the parallel bars (14.500), third in the high bar (14.000), and tied for fifth in the pommel horse (13.600).
Evans also won this award once in January and one other time in February.
Ty Evans and his Springfield College teammates will host Army this Sunday (Mar. 6) at 1 pm at SC's Blake Arena.


Entering his 32nd season as head men's gymnastics coach, Dr. Steve Posner is recognized as one of the most outstanding gymnastics coaches in the East. Posner led the Pride to another successful season in 2012 and was named the EIGL Coach of the Year. Read more.
