No. 20 Field Hockey Defeats Wheaton, 2-1, In Overtime

, Oct. 11, 2003 - Springfield College junior midfielder Lydia Grant (Granby, Conn.)
scored the game-winning goal three minutes into overtime to give the 10th-ranked Pride a 2-1 win in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) match this afternoon at Clark Field.
After a scoreless first half, SC senior midfielder Brianne Tompkins (Stromville, N.Y.)
found the cage just 54 seconds into the second frame to give the Pride a 1-0 advantage. The Lyons evened the score when junior Mary Alice Capello (Newton, Mas.)
scored with 20:48 left in the second half.
Springfield junior goalkeeper Lindsay Pardue (Houston, Texas)
made seven saves in the game.
The Pride move to 9-5 on the season and remain perfect in the NEWMAC at 4-0. Wheaton falls to 6-7 (0-3 NEWMAC).
