



Bristol, R.I. - November 14, 2009 - The New England Women’s Volleyball Association announced the 2009 NEWVA All-New England Teams, comprised of the top Division III women’s volleyball players in the region, and Springfield's Heather Lively was selected as a first-team honoree.Lively has racked up the awards this postseason as she was also named to the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) First Team, the NEWMAC Women’s Volleyball Academic All-Conference Team, and the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) New England All-Region First Team.
Last season's NEWVA New England Player of the Year, Lively earned NEWVA First Team honors for a second-consecutive time this season.
Lively, a native of Royalston, Mass., had another standout year for Springfield. In her second year for the Pride, Lively was notched 432 kills, averaging 3.42 per game with a .243 hitting percentage. While playing all the way around the court this season, she added 221 digs to go along with 31 aces. In addition, her 3.97 points per game ranked second in the conference.

Moira Long will enter her second season as head women's volleyball coach in the fall of 2012. Long wasted little time putting her stamp on the program, taking the Pride to the NCAA Championship Elite Eight in 2011.
