Amherst, Mass. - February 6, 2010 - The Springfield College men’s swimming & diving team came up short on Saturday afternoon in its final dual meet of the season, falling by a score of 159-131 at Amherst.
Brian Sobel turned in a record-breaking performance for the Pride as he notched a score of 337.12 in the one-meter dive, breaking the old school record of 336.10, which he set just last weekend at Babson. Sobel also won the three-meter dive, scoring 314.47.
The 400 medley relay team of Travis Morse, Ryan Mackstutis, Scott Mackstutis, and Nolan Manley finished in third with a time of 3:40.52.
Sophomore Gary York had a solid performance, finishing in second place in the 200 free with a time of 1:48.36. The 100 breaststroke saw senior Ryan Mackstutis finish in 1:01.35 for third place, just .15 out of second place. Tim Ramos captured a second place finish in the 200 butterfly in 2:02.12.
Matt Manoni secured a third place finish in the 100 free, touching in 48.85. In the 500 free, freshman Nolan Manley touched in 4:54.53 to finish second.
The Pride will return to action on Friday, February 26 when it heads to Norton, Mass. to compete in the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championships hosted by Wheaton College.
