Burch currently lives and trains in Cornelius, North Carolina and was a member of both the 2008 and 2012 Bermuda Olympic Teams. In the 2012 Olympic Games in London, Burch finished 24th overall in the Men’s 50m Freestyle event.
Burch currently holds eight National records for his country including the 50m Freestyle, 100m Freestyle, 50m Butterfly, and the 50m Backstroke. He has represented Bermuda at the FINA World Championships since 2007 and has reached the final heats of prominent International competitions, such as the Commonwealth Games and the Pan-American Games.
During his time at Springfield, Burch helped the Pride to its only New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championship in 2005. In fact, he still holds school records in the 50 free (20.26), the 100 free (45.08), the 100 backstroke (51.28), and was a member of the record-setting relay teams in the 200 medley (1:33.92), 400 medley relay (3:28.30), and 200 free relay (1:22.63).
Burch is poised to make another run at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, where he will race for the chance to be the fastest man in the water. When thinking about the next Olympics, Burch quickly refers to his favorite inspirational quote: “A journey of a thousand miles begins with one step.”
