Boxscore

SPRINGFIELD, Mass., Sept. 10, 2005 – Springfield College senior back Justin Pepoli (Ashburnham, Mass.) scored his second goal of the season in the fifth minute of action, but it wasn’t enough as the United States Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA) at Kings Point defeated the Pride on Saturday afternoon, September 10, 2-1.

Four minutes and 28 seconds into the match, Pepoli blasted a shot from approximately 25 yards out that tipped the goalie’s hands and found the back of the net. The score gave SC (0-3) an early 1-0 advantage.

Kings Point (3-2) freshman midfielder Chris Flanagan scored the equalizer in the 13th minute of play (12:11) on a well-placed shot that found the very top of the goal. Mariner junior forward Kyle Flynn scored what proved to be the game-winner in the 41st minute.

SC sophomore goalkeeper B.J. Sturdivant (Bear, Del.) made two saves for the Pride.

SC will next travel to Wesleyan on Wednesday, September 14, for a non-conference match at 4:30 p.m.
