



Springfield, Mass. - November 15, 2012 - Kelly Gallo and MK Murray continued to received postseason accolades as they were selected to the Longstreth/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division III All-New England East Region Team. Gallo took home first-team honors, while Murray was selected to the second team.Murray earned the all-region honor for the first time in her career, while Gallo has now been selected for the third-straight year. After garnering second-team honors in her first two years at Springfield, this is Gallo's first appearance on the first team.
Gallo, who hails from Westfield, Mass., had one of the finest offensive seasons in program history, producing a team-best 39 points off 16 goals and seven assists. Throughout the year, the junior had five games with at least two goals, including three hat tricks. Earlier this season, she earned her third-straight New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) All-Conference honor.
Murray anchored Springfield's defense throughout the season to earn all-region honors. A native of Killingworth, Conn. Murray tallied a pair of defensive saves this season to go along with two goal and two assists on the offensive side of the ball. Her leadership on the field played a major role in Springfield reaching the conference championship game for the first time since 2009.
The Pride finished the season with a 10-10 record and advanced to the NEWMAC Championship game after upsetting top-seeded Babson in the tournament semifinals.
After eight years as head coach of the Pride, Melissa Sharpe, has continued the SC tradition of winning on the field hockey turf, posting an impressive 120-58 record, good for a winning percentage of .674 at the helm of her alma mater. Read more.
