Baseball Plates Five In the Ninth To Knock Off Lewis & Clark, 10-9
Phoenix, Ariz. - March 11, 2012
- The Springfield College baseball team plated five runs in the bottom of the ninth to rally past Lewis & Clark, 10-9, in the Russ Matt Greater Phoenix Invitational on Sunday. Mike McGowan
provided the game-winning RBI to lift the Pride to the thrilling victory.
Springfield is off to a 2-0 start to begin the year, with both wins coming by the score of 10-9. Mike DeMille picked up the win in relief on the mound.
Greg Marakovits went seven innings, giving up three earned runs off eight eights while striking out three, as he earned the no-decision.
McGowan finished the day with three RBI, including the game-winner, while Jared Hopkins also knocked in a pair of runs. Both McGowan and Mike Corletta recorded doubles in the contest, Karl Quist cracked a triple for the second-straight game.
