



SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – January 13, 2007 – The Springfield College men’s and women’s swimming & diving teams faced always-strong NYU this afternoon at the Art Linkletter Natatorium on the campus of Springfield College.
NYU captured both ends of the meet -- the men defeating SC (146-97), the women also winning (132-111).
On the men’s side, NYU winners included the 400-yard medley relay team (3:40.01), junior Shaughn Keating (Morristown, N.J.) in the 50 free (22.04), sophomore Eric Wang (Redmond, Wash.) in the 400 IM (4:11.66), Wang in the 200 fly (2:02.09), Keating in the 100 free (49.50), junior Brad Thornton (Hastings on the Hudson, N.Y.) in the 200 back (1:59.70), freshman Ryan Murray (Highland, Md.) in the 1-meter diving (249.23 points), Wang in the 200 breast (2:18.20), and the 400-yard freestyle relay team (3:13.65).
For Springfield, winners included senior Paul McCloskey (Brookfield, Conn.) in the 1000 free (10:01.57), McCloskey in the 200 free (1:47.40), freshman Jonathan Alberghini (Cumberland, Me.) in the 3-meter diving (230.62 points), and McCloskey in the 500 free (4:53.32).
On the women’s side, NYU winners included freshman Kacey McCaffrey (Mullica Hills, N.J.) in the 1650 free (18:15.53), freshman Mary Mueller (Scarsdale, N.Y.) in the 400 IM (4:47.49), freshman Serena Ham (Oakland, N.J.) in the 200 fly, senior Alissa Cantone (Ithaca, N.Y.) in the 100 free (56.32), freshman Patricia Beck (Larchmont, N.Y.) in the 200 back (2:11.33), junior Dorota Sawicz (Forest Hills, N.Y.) in the 500 free (5:20.03), and the 400-yard freestyle relay team (3:44.46).
For the Pride, winners included the 400-yard medley relay team (4:11.98), senior Meaghan O’Hara (Bedford, N.H.) in the 200 free (2:00.03), sophomore Moira Price (Berkeley Heights, N.J.) in the 50 free (25.38), sophomore Erin White (Glastonbury, Conn.) in the 1-meter diving (241.42 points), senior Natasha Skowronski (Adams, Mass.) in the 3-meter diving (239.40 points), and Price in the 200 breast (2:30.21).

John Taffe enters his 25th season in 2013-2014 as the head coach of the men's and women's swimming teams at Springfield College. Under Taffe’s leadership, the Pride has returned to its status as one of the best collegiate swimming and diving programs in Division III. Read more.
