No. 8 Field Hockey Shuts Down Babson, 3-0

SPRINGFIELD, Mass., Oct. 9, 2004 - Springfield College senior midfielder
Lydia Grant (Granby, Conn.) notched a goal to lead the No. 8 Pride to a 3-0 shutout of Babson College this afternoon in New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) field hockey action on Benedum Field.
Grant tallied her second goal of the season at the 31:42 mark to register the only goal of the half for either team. Springfield (11-2) junior midfielder
Sarah Brooker (Auburn, Maine) kept the ball rolling in the second half when she scored her team-leading seventh goal of the season with 31:18 remaining in the game. Senior back
Kim Stevens (Knox, Maine) finished off the scoring as she found the back of the cage with 22:01 on the clock.

Lindsay Pardue (Houston, Texas) and
Emma Kaplan (Ridgefield, Conn.) combined for the Pride’s eighth shutout of the 2004 campaign.
Babson goalkeeper Lacey Johnson made 14 stops in goal for the Beavers (7-6, 3-1 NEWMAC).
The Pride’s next game is on Wednesday (Oct. 13) when it travels to Williams College for a 4:15 p.m. match.
