Women's Soccer Blanks Coast Guard, 1-0
New London, Conn., Oct. 22, 2002 - Springfield senior forward
Amanda Conk (Montclair, N.J.) scored the only goal of the game as the Pride beat Coast Guard 1-0 in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) game at Central Field.
Conk took advantage of an error by the Coast Guard goalkeeper, who misplayed the ball, and Conk slipped the ball into the open net in the 54th minute for her third goal of the season.

Christine McCarey (Middleboro, Mass.) was forced to make only 4 saves for the shutout victory. The Pride improve to 7-8 (4-3 NEWMAC).
Coast Guard slips to 7-7 (3-4 NEWMAC) this fall.

John Gibson, a native of London, England, enters his 13th season as head women's soccer at Springfield College in the fall of 2012. Gibson has led the Pride to the NCAA Tournament in five of the last seven years and has established the Pride as one of the top programs in the country.
