



Complete Results (.pdf)Mechanicsburg, Pa - Dec. 1, 2012 - The Springfield College wrestling team finished fifth at the Petrofes Invitational on Saturday at Messiah College.
Cortland claimed the team title with 204.5 points, followed by Mount Union's total of 157. Host Messiah finished third with 138, while Wilkes (118.5) edged Springfield (115.5) for fourth place.
Springfield had three wrestlers finish third in their respective weight classes. Top-seeded Derrick Longo rebounded from a tough start on Friday to finish third at 165. Michael Case also had a very strong showing on Saturday, battling back to take third at 197. At 285, John Gabordi defeated teammate Iraki Kakauridze to earn a third-place finish.
Other strong finishers this weekend included Derek Adams, who took took fourth at 133 and Nick Camera and Tommy Casper who placed fifth at 184 and 125. In addition, Brendan Morgan was sixth at 141, Dylan Foley placed seventh at 157.
The Pride will not compete again until January 5th when it travels to Roger Williams for a clash of two of the top programs in New England.

Jason Holder will enter his third season as head wrestling coach in 2013. Holder had a standout first season at the helm of the Pride, leading Springfield to the NEWA Duals Championship and taking three wrestlers to the NCAA Championships.
