Women's Cross Country Places 16th at Connecticut College Invitational
Waterford, Conn. - October 19, 2013
-The Springfield College women's cross country team placed 16th at the Connecticut College Invitational on Saturday at Harkness Memorial State Park.
The Pride finished the event with 458 points to finish 16th out of the 21 teams competing.
Emily Rund (Enfield, Conn.) was the first Springfield runner to cross the finish line of the 6k course as she totaled a time of 24:43 to finish 86th. Abby Wright (Pittsfield, Mass.) was right behind her in 88th with a tmie of 24:44, while Sarah Knop (Eastham, Mass.) totaled a time of 24:51 to place 91st.
J'aime Giaccone (Enfield, Conn.) was 95th in 24:57 and Elizabeth Footit (Wilbraham, Mass.) registered a time of 25:04.
Springfield will next run at the NEWMAC Championships on November 3.

Jim Pennington enters his 29th season as head coach of the Springfield College women’s cross country and track and field teams in 2013. Under Pennington’s direction, the Pride has recorded seven top 20 finishes at the NCAA Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field Championships, and seven top 15 finishes at the NCAA Cross Country Championships.
