Women's Volleyball Earns No. 2 Ranking in NEWVA Regional Coaches Poll

Joel Dearing Springfield, Mass. - October 2, 2008 - After an impressive 14-2 start to their 2008 season, the Springfield College women's volleyball team was voted as the second-best team in New England by the New England Women's Volleyball Assocation in a coaches poll released on Thursday afternoon.

The Pride, which have had a balanced attack this season under the direction of head coach Joel Dearing, are ranked second in the poll, behind Tufts. The Pride recently lost to Tufts in four games last weekend at the MIT Invitational.

Springfield is one of four schools in the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) to be ranked as one of the top 15 teams in New England. Wellesley sits just behind the Pride in third, while MIT is eighth, and Coast Guard is 15th.
