Women's Swimming & Diving Finishes 19th At NCAA Division III Championships

HOPE, Mich., - March 12 - Springfield College senior
Megan Skinner (Acton, Mass.) finished second in the 200 backstroke and third in the 100 backstroke to lead the Pride to 19th place out of 53 scoring teams at the NCAA Division III Championships, Saturday, hosted by Hope (Mich.) College. This is the Pride's sixth top-20 finish in the last seven years.
Skinner finished the 100 backstroke in 57.59 seconds to break her own school record, while swimming the 200 back in 2:03.97. She also swam in the preliminaries of the 500 freestyle.
Freshman diver
Dana Allen (Agawam, Mass.) finished eighth on the three-meter board (392.20) to earn All-America honors, and was 11th on the one-meter board (330.10) to garner honorable-mention recognition.
Junior
Sarah Strout (Edgecomb, Maine) garnered honorable-mention All-America honors with a 10th-place finish in the 1,650 freestyle (17:29.30). She also swam in the preliminaries of the 500 freestyle.

Peter Avdoulos is regarded as one of the top diving coaches in the nation, and is entering his 29th season as the diving coach for both the men's and women's programs in 2013-2014. The current NEWMAC Men's and Women's Diving Coach of the Year, Avdoulos has coached countless All-New England and All-American divers, as well as several National Champions.
