Williamsport, Pa. -- January 15, 2011 -- The Springfield College wrestling team lost a pair of matches today at the Budd Whitehill Duals at Lycoming College. The Pride dropped matches to UW-Whitewater, 27-18, and to Heidelberg, 30-12, to finish with two wins and three losses on the weekend.Ranked #1 in New England Division III, Springfield is now 3-3 in duals overall.
Springfield winners in the UW-Whitewater match included Dru Thomas at 125 in a pin at 3:36, Corey Kozimor at 141 in a pin at 3:18, John Archambeau at 165, and Nick Camera at 184.
Pride winners in the Heidelberg match included Tom Casper at 125 in a forfeit, and Brandon Sundwall at 174.
Up next, the SC wrestlers will compete at Williams on Wednesday at 7 pm.
Jason Holder will enter his second season as head wrestling coach in 2012. Holder had a standout first season at the helm of the Pride, leading Springfield to the NEWA Duals Championship and taking three wrestlers to the NCAA Championships.
