Women's Swimming & Diving Falls to Williams, 195.5-104.5

Springfield, Mass. - November 15, 2013 - The Springfield College women's swimming and diving team fell to visiting Williams, 195.5-104.5, on Friday evening in the Art Linkletter Natatorium.

The Pride opened the meet with a second place finish in the 400 yard medley, with Kelsey Poole (Westfield, Mass.), Emily Medeiros (Wakefield, Mass.), Christiana Greco (Wilbraham, Mass.), and Kellie Pennington (Monson, Mass.) with a time of 4:00.50.

Pennington and Greco picked up Springfield's only individual win in the pool. Pennington took the 50 yard free with a time of 24.24, while Greco was victorious in the 100 yard butterfly after touching in 58.60.

Ashleigh Monroe (Southbury, Conn.) took runner-up in both the 1000 yard free and 500 yard free with times of 10:55.05 and 5:20.42 respectively.

Medeiros also placed second in both the 100 yard breaststroke at 1:08.07 and the 200 yard breaststroke at 2:29.57.

In the 200 yard free, Callie Phillips (East Longmeadow, Mass.) placed second touching at 1:57.16. Phillips also took second in the 200 yard IM with a time of 2.13.36.

Jennifer Thompson (Cheshire, Mass.) took first on the three meter board with a final score of 280.34. On the one meter board, Melanie Avdoulos (East Longmeadow, Mass.) took runner up with a 264.45 mark.

The Pride closed out the meet with a win in the 200 free relay as Pennington, Nicole Scotto (Southbury, Conn.), Mary Masayda (Watertown, Conn.) and Delaney Dyjak (Ludlow, Mass.) combined for a time of 1:39.04.

Springfield will host Wheaton and Keene State on Saturday at 1:00 pm.
