Sharpe was named a captain, along with Wisconsin-Stout DB Wendell Eskridge, Trinity (TX.) DL Baron Koch, and Augustana OL Jon Verhelst. Said Sharpe, "It's an honor. To be in a group like this with all these talented players, and be selected to lead in a game like this is something I'll never forget." Saturday's LIVE coverage of the Aztec Bowl begins at 4:30 pm CST, a full 90 minutes before kickoff at the University of Chihuahua's Estadio Olimpico Universitario.
A native of Derry, N.H., Sharpe ended his career as the school career record holder in yards rushing (4,152), total offense (5,723 yards) and points scored (432). On the season he rushed for 1,360 yards and 21 touchdowns, and threw for 754 yards and five touchdowns. He is expected to play as a running back, and could possibly return kicks in the Aztec Bowl.
Sharpe is one of 50 NCAA Division III seniors from around the country who will make up this year’s team. Former Widener, Delaware Valley and LaSalle Head Coach Bill Manlove will coach this year’s team.
