No. 11 Field Hockey Handles MIT, 5-0

SPRINGFIELD, Mass.,-- October 23, 2004 – Springfield College junior
Alisha Miner (Sanbornton, N.H.) scored two goals to propel the Pride past MIT, 5-0, in New England Women’s and Men’s field hockey action this afternoon on Benedum Field.
SC (15-3, 7-0 NEWMAC) opened the scoring nine minutes into the first half with a goal from junior
Amber Paradee (Sheldon, Vt.) off a feed from senior
Lydia Grant (Granby, Conn.) Miner would then net her first goal of the game three minutes later. Senior
Kim Stevens (Knox, Maine) added a goal at the 20:11 mark thanks to another set-up pass from Grant. Miner would close out the first-half scoring for the Pride with 8:27 remaining.
Freshman
Eileen Jenkins (Gorham, Maine) registered the only goal of the second half for the Pride, which was her first-career tally.
Senior
Lindsey Pardue (Houston, Texas) stopped four shots in goal, and was credited with her sixth shutout of the season. MIT freshman goalkeeper Alexa Herman stopped 15 shots on the afternoon for the Engineers.
SC looks to complete its first undefeated NEWMAC regular season since 1998, when the Pride takes on WPI this Tuesday, October 26, at 7:00 pm on Benedum Field.
