Springfield Mass.-- February 18, 2010 -- Ericca Castagna, a senior from Springfield College, has been named Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Women’s Gymnastics Specialist of the Week.This coming after her outstanding performance placing third in two different events last Saturday, February 13, at Yale. A native of Topsfield, Mass., Castagna earned this award despite her Springfield College women’s gymnastics team falling short to Yale 188.925 to 183.00.
Castagna had a great individual day for the Pride as she placed third in both the vault and the floor exercise. She tallied a score of 9.475 in the vault and 9.575 on floor.
The senior co-captain looks to help her team bounce back as the Pride will take on Southern Connecticut this Sunday, February 21 at 5:30 p.m. in SC's Blake Arena.
Cheryl Raymond, who will be entering her 33rd year as women's gymnastics coach and assistant professor of physical education at Springfield College in 2012-2013, is one of the top college coaches in the region. Read more.
