Pennington Earns NEWMAC Women's Swimmer of the Week Honors
Springfield, Mass. - November 4, 2013 - Kellie Pennington (Monson, Mass.)
was chosen as the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Women’s Swimmer of the Week.
Pennington has had a strong start to her senior season. In a tri-meet with Coast Guard and URI, she won three individual events to lead the way as she captured the 200 free in 1:57.93, was victorious in the 50 free with a 24.12, touched first in the 100 free in 52.92 and was a member of the winning 200 free relay 1:38.33.
In the season-opening win at Holy Cross, Pennington took first in both the 50 freestyle (24.35) and the 100 freestyle (54.17).
Springfield is 2-1 to start the season and will compete again on Saturday, hosting MIT at 1:00 p.m.
