Head coach
Steve Posner’s deep Springfield College squad expects to have another championship season on both the regional and national scenes.
“With a host of talented returners and several strong freshmen, we have reason to be optimistic,” said coach Posner. “We’re looking forward to competing for our third-straight New England Championship, and I’m feel that several of our gymnasts will qualify nationally in their events. We are also excited to host the ECAC Championships in March and hope to improve upon our finish at the national meet.”
Despite the graduation of national vault champion
Tim Goetz, several accomplished upperclassmen return to lead the ‘05 Pride. Junior All-American
Aric Hines returns after finishing third on the pommel horse at last winter’s USA Gymnastics National Championships. Senior All-American
Nelson Jimenez, who finished sixth on the vault, and junior All-American
Shawn Fournier, the fifth-place finisher on the floor exercise, also return looking to improve on their national finishes. Sophomore
Scott Goff heads the list of talented underclassmen that will make an impact after garnering All-America honors with a fourth-place finish in the floor exercise in ‘04.
