Smolinski Named NEWMAC Women's Volleyball Player of the Week Wellesley, Mass. - September 4, 2012 - Tessa Smolinski was named the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Women's Volleyball Player of the Week.

The Hebron, Conn. native had a strong opening weekend for the Pride, leading the squad to a 3-1 weekend at the Springfield College Invitational.

The junior outside hitter totaled 54 kills in 15 sets, averaging 3.6 per game at a .364 hitting percentage. She also posted 62 digs, racking up 4.13 per set, while registering seven total aces as she recoded double doubles in every match.

Smolinski opened the weekend with 17 kills, hitting .654, to go along with 14 digs in a sweep of Simmons, before then tallying 17 digs and 11 kills in a five-set loss to Clarkson. The following day, Smolinski posted 15 kills and 12 digs against Rivier before registering 19 digs, 11 kills, and four aces versus Eastern Connecticut State.

The Pride will return to competition this weekend when it travels to compete in the Johnson & Wales Invitational.
