



SPRINGFIELD, Mass., Sept. 10, 2005 – Wellesley College sophomores Jenna Mezin and Trish Devine both won their singles and doubles matches as the Blue defeated Springfield College, 9-0, in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) women's tennis match this afternoon (Sep. 10) at Appleton Courts in the Pride’s home opener.
Mezin won her #1 singles match by a score of 6-0, 6-0, and Devine won at #2 singles, 6-1, 6-1. Mezin teamed up with sophomore Hali Walther at #1 doubles, winning 8-3, and Devine played with freshman Jennifer Schwartzkopf at #2 doubles, winning 8-1. Wellesley is now 1-0 on the young season.
SC is now 0-2 overall on the season and will next travel to Smith College for a conference contest on Tuesday afternoon, September 13, at 4:00 p.m.
Doubles:
Toby Coffin G’01, enters his third year as the head men’s and women’s tennis coach at Springfield College. Coffin, who has coached at numerous high schools in the area, will look to build a program which will contend for a conference crown.
