Springfield College Welcomes Luke To Football Family

Springfield, Mass. - May 3, 2013 - The Springfield College football team partnered with Team IMPACT and drafted the newest member of the Pride on Thursday, April 25. Luke, an 8-year-old from South Hadley, Mass., who is battling with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL), joined his teammates for his first official day as a member of the team.

Team IMPACT's mission is to improve the quality of life for children facing life-threatening and chronic illness by establishing and expanding vibrant team-based support networks. Through the power of teamwork, these courageous kids are provided a cherished diversion from their medical realities and benefit greatly from an unparalleled support system.

Since his diagnosis, Luke has undergone three years of treatment, which have included many rounds of chemotherapy. Last week, Luke was ushered in as the newest quarterback for the Springfield College football team and will No. 27 this year. In addition to signing his letter of commitment to the squad, he was fitted for his equipment and helmet. The team presented Luke with his own locker and had a great afternoon hanging out together.
