Carresi, DiNatale and Vital Selected To Play In NEWISA Senior Bowl

NEWISA Senior Bowl: Ashley Carresi, Vicky DiNatale, Nina Vital Springfield, Mass. – December 2, 2013 - Ashley Carresi (Billerica, Mass.), Vicky DiNatale (Weymouth, Mass.) and Nina Vital (Ludlow, Mass.) have been selected to represent the Springfield College women’s soccer team in the 2013 New England Women's Intercollegiate Soccer Association (NEWISA) Senior Bowl.

The game will be held at Merrimack College on Saturday, December 7 at 1:00 p.m.

Springfield earned the second-most selections among Division III schools and only 22 D-III athletes were chosen to play in the game. Carresi, DiNatale and Vital were among just six players selected from the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC).

The senior trio helped lead the Pride to its second-straight NEWMAC title this season, finishing the year with a record of 13-5-4 (6-1-3, NEWMAC). Springfield made its fourth-straight NCAA tournament appearance.

Carresi was selected to the All-Conference Second Team this season, providing solid play in the midfield for the Pride. The senior played in all 22 games this year, tallying three goals and three assists. Of her three goals, two were game-winners, including the game-winning goal in a 2-1 NEWMAC semifinal win over Wheaton. Carresi ranked second on the team with nine points. The senior played in every single game the past three years and played in 68 games through her career. Of her four career goals, three were game-winners. She also tallied 10 assists.

DiNatale earned her third All-Conference selection in as many years. This year, the senior was honored with her second-straight first team selection. Led by DiNatale, the Pride defense allowed just 17 goals all season. Not only was she a consistent defender, but DiNatale also contributed two goals on the offensive side for the Pride. The senior was tied for the most votes among defenders. In her four-year career, the defender tallied eight goals, including two game-winners. She played in every game the past three years and played in 74 games through four years.

Vital notched a team-leading six goals this season including two game-winners. The senior led the Pride with 12 points on the year. She played in 14 games this season and anchored a Pride offense that outscored opponents, 31-17. Over three years, Vital tallied 17 goals including six game-winners and five assists. She played in 43 games.
