Goodwin Named Empire 8 Defensive Player of the Week Springfield, Mass. -- September 6, 2010 -- Ken Goodwin of the Springfield College football team has been named the Empire 8 Defensive Player of the week after the opening week of the season for his efforts in the Pride's 31-7 victory over King's College of Pennsylvania last Friday night.

Goodwin, a senior linebacker from Foxboro, Mass., was credited with seven total tackles in the win. But more importantly, he also had two interceptions and three pass deflections. One of the interceptions led directly to an SC field goal, which gave the Pride a 10-0 first quarter lead at the time.

His totaled 22 yards on his interception returns.

Springfield will travel to Bangor, Me. for a game with Husson University this Saturday (Sept. 11) at 1:00 pm.
