Men's Swimming and Diving Sends Six To NCAAs

SPRINGFIELD, Mass., March 18, 2003- Springfield College head coach
John Taffe announced that announced that six members of SC’s men’s swimming and diving team have qualified for the NCAA Division III Men’s Swimming and Diving Championships on March 20-22, which will be held in Atlanta.
SC sophomore
Louis Arruda (West Warwick, R.I.) will swim the 200-yard and 500-yard freestyles, and the 200-yard butterfly. Freshman
Dan Moran (Wilbraham, Mass.) qualified in the 100-yard and 200-yard butterfly, and the 500-yard freestyle, and senior
Craig Dolan (Edison, N.J.) will swim the 200-yard individual medley. Arruda, Moran, Dolan and sophomore
Blake Leshnick (Suffern, N.Y.) will team up for the 200 and 400 medley relays as well as the 400 and 800 freestyle relays.
Senior
Dan Bartholomew (Willits, Calif.) and freshman
Mike Shaw (Westfield, Mass.) will compete in the one- and three-meter diving competitions.

Diving Coach Peter Avdoulos

Peter Avdoulos is regarded as one of the top diving coaches in the nation, and will enter his 28th season as the diving coach for both the men's and women's programs in 2012-2013. The current NEWMAC Men's Diving Coach of the Year, Avdoulos has coached countless All-New England and All-American divers, as well as several National Champions.
