



Complete ResultsPhiladelphia, Pa. -- February 18, 2012 -- The Springfield College men's gymnastics team placed third of three teams represented in a meet at Temple University this evening. SC finished with a score of 320.550, while host Temple placed first in 337.700, and Illinois-Chicago second in 325.500. Jimmy Pezzino had the top two scores of the day for the Pride.
Pezzino, a junior from Buffalo, N.Y., posted a pair of 14.700's in the floor exercise and the vault. Those were SC's best tallies of the night.
SC's other top scores included sophomore Ryan Ponce (Tolland, Conn.) in the still rings at 14.500, freshman Pat Ryther (Boston, Mass.) in the pommel horse at 13.600, and senior Ty Evans (San Jose, Calif.) in the high bar at 13.000.
In the parallel bars, Evans and junior Rich Ruggiero (Northford, Conn.) tied for SC's best score with a 13.400.
Freshman Ian Stratton (Elizabeth City, N.C.) was the only member of the Pride to compete in the all-around. He finished with a score of 77.300.
Other SC competitors who had scores at 14.000 or higher included junior Chris Jost (Ashland, Mass.) in the floor exercise with a 14.500, and Stratton with a 14.000 in the same event. Freshman Sam Docherty (Upton, Mass.) finished with a 14.000 in the vault.
Up next for Springfield men's gymnastics is a meet at Army with Temple on Sunday, Mar. 4. at 1 pm.
