No. 9 Men's Lacrosse Falls To Stevens, 8-4, In NCAA Tournament Second Round

Paul Purdy (Brewster, N.Y.) and sophomore attackman
Taylor Brown (Portsmouth, R.I.) were each credited with a goal and an assist but it was Stevens Institute of Technology advancing in the NCAA Division III Men's Lacrosse Tournament with a 8-4 victory over the No. 9 Pride this afternoon in New Jersey.
Senior midfielder
Craig Gibson (South Salem, N.Y.) put the Pride on the board first at the 13:52 mark, before Stevens answered 46 seconds later to even the game, 1-1, with 13:06 remaining in the first quarter. A goal by Brown, assisted by Purdy put SC up, 2-1, at the 9:36 mark, but the Ducks would once again tie the game at 2-2 at the 4:17 mark.
A pair of Stevens goals were the only scoring in the second quarter as the Ducks clung to a 4-2 halftime advantage,
While the Stevens defense continuted to shut down the Pride offense, which came into the game with the fifth-ranked scoring offense in the nation (15.19 gpg), three more unanswered goals in only a 2:48 span gave the Ducks a 7-2 lead with 7:50 remaining in the third quarter.
A goal by junior attackman
Derek Pedrick (Saratoga, N.Y.) brought the Pride within four, 7-3, with 7:02 to play in the quarter, before a Stevens goal with 52 seconds on the clock made the score, 8-3, after three quarters of play.
Purdy scored the fourth quarter's only goal with six seconds remaining in the game for the 8-4 final score.
Freshman goalkeeper
Kyle Cloutier (South Hadley, Mass.) was credited with 15 saves for the Pride, which had its 12-game winning streak snapped with the loss.
