



KEENE, N.H. Oct. 1, 2005 -- Springfield College senior Meghan Young (Hurley, N.Y.) ran to a first-place finish as the Pride placed third in the Keene State College Invitational this afternoon, October 1, in Keene, N.H.
Young set a personal-best of 18:24 as she covered the five-kilometer course seven seconds ahead of her closest competitor. Pride sophomore Alyssa Brigham (Penacook, N.H.) also had a top-ten finish as she placed ninth, in 19:59. SC freshman Lara Dalidowitz (Southington, Conn.) was 16th overall (20:23), followed by junior Jackie Knoblock (Plymouth, Mass.) (25th, 20:57), and senior Jessie Zaccaro (Washingonville, N.Y.) (33rd, 21:08) rounded out the scoring five.
The Pride took third place in the seven-team meet with 82 points. Dartmouth won the meet with 41 points, followed by Keene State (53).
SC travels to Franklin Park in Boston on Saturday, October 8, for the Open New England Championships consisting of Division I, II, and III teams.
Jim Pennington enters his 28th season as head coach of the Springfield College women’s cross country and track and field teams in 2011-2012. Under Pennington’s direction, the Pride has recorded seven top 20 finishes at the NCAA Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field Championships, and seven top 15 finishes at the NCAA Cross Country Championships.
