Complete ResultsCambridge, Mass. - May 5, 2012 - The Springfield College women's track and field team finished 10th at the New England Division III Championships on Saturday at MIT.
Williams won the event with 157, followed by MIT (124), Tufts (81), Worcester State (60), Southern Maine (50), Middlebury (47), Colby (40), Amherst (37), Bates (35), and Springfield (32) rounded out the top 10.
The Pride's 4x100 relay of Crystal Davis, Elizabeth Saia, Erika Marks, and Laurie Jenkins finished fifth in 48.43. The 4x400 relay team also took fifth as Gabriella Gaudreault, Kelly Murphy, Davis, and Bethany Young combined to run a 4:00.86.
Springfield had three of the top six finishers in the javelin, led by Kelly Curtis' toss of 134-01 that was good enough for second place. Colleen Brague was right behind Curtis in third with a distance of 132-01, while first-year Haley Regan took sixth with a 125-01.
Curtis also posted a fourth place finish in the long jump with a mark of 17-04.25, while in the 800, Gaudreault finished seventh in 2:16.68.
Jim Pennington enters his 29th season as head coach of the Springfield College women’s cross country and track and field teams in 2012-2013. Under Pennington’s direction, the Pride has recorded seven top 20 finishes at the NCAA Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field Championships, and seven top 15 finishes at the NCAA Cross Country Championships.
