



Springfield, Mass. - September 20, 2010 - Junior Kim Giaquinto was selected as the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Women's Volleyball Player of the Week after guiding the Pride to a pair of conference victories last week.The Massapequa, N.Y. native had a breakout week as Springfield downed both Babson and Coast Guard to improve to 9-1 on the season, including 2-0 in league play.
For the week, the junior opposite hitter totaled 20 kills at an impressive .444 clip while adding a total of eight blocks and three aces.
In the Pride's sweep of Babson, Giaquinto tallied 11 kills while hitting .529, to go along with three aces, three blocks, and a pair of digs. In the four-game victory at Coast Guard, she notched nine kills at a .368 clip to go along with a team-best five blocks and three digs.

Moira Long will enter her second season as head women's volleyball coach in the fall of 2012. Long wasted little time putting her stamp on the program, taking the Pride to the NCAA Championship Elite Eight in 2011.
