Competing in the Wesleyan Invitational, the Pride topped the host Cardinals on Friday evening, 53-47, before falling in the championship game to Rhode Island College, 71-62.
Gibbs, who hails from Norwalk, Conn., was named to the All-Tournament team as he averaged 16.5 points and 5.5 boards in the Pride's first two games.
In the Pride's 53-47 season opening win versus Wesleyan, Gibbs netted 19 points to go along with six rebounds, two assists, and a steal. With the score tied at 18 with 4:57 left in the first half, Gibbs went on a tear, putting the team on his back. The senior guard poured in 10 straight points, sparking a Springfield 12-2 run, to open up the game.
In the championship against Rhode Island College, Gibbs chipped in with 14 points and five rebounds.
Gibbs and the Pride return to action on Friday, November 30 as they host in-town rival Western New England College at 8:00 pm in the Pioneer Valley Classic.
