Women's Volleyball Ranked 25th In AVCA Division III National Poll

Head Coach Moira Long Springfield, Mass. - September 20, 2011 - The Springfield College women's volleyball team broke into the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division III Coaches Top 25 National Poll on Tuesday afternoon. After starting the season with a 10-0 record, the Pride are ranked 25th nationally.

Off to its best start since 2004, the Pride has won both the Springfield College Invitational and Johnson and Wales Invitational and recorded wins versus Babson and Coast Guard in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) play. Last Saturday, the Pride recorded a 3-1 win over Coast Guard, who was ranked 25th nationally, in a rematch of last season's NEWMAC Tournament Championship.

The Pride is one of only two teams from New England ranked in the national poll, as rival UMass Boston is currently ranked 18th among Division III teams.

Springfield looks to continue its hot start to the season as it takes on Clark University on Tuesday evening at 7:00 pm.
