Becker Named EIVA Tait Player of the Week Springfield, Mass. - April 11, 2011 - Sophomore Mike Becker was named the Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (EIVA) Tait Conference Player of the Week after guiding Springfield to a pair of victories last week.

With Becker leading the offense, Springfield went 2-0 against EIVA opponents with major playoff implications on the line. After Springfield dispatched NYU in four sets, the Pride earned the EIVA berth into the upcoming Molten Division III Invitational National Championship. On Saturday, Springfield powered past visiting Rutgers-Newark as it claimed the third seed in the EIVA Tournament and will host sixth-seeded Juniata on April 23.

The Lancaster, Pa. product directed Springfield's offense to two of its most efficient hitting performances of the season. At NYU, Becker set the team to a .458 hitting percentage, its third-best of the year, as he also scored 8 points on three kills, three aces, three blocks to go along with 53 assists and three digs.

Versus Rutgers-Newark, Becker led the Pride to a season-best .462 hitting percentage as he dished out 47 assists and ripped four in the win.For the week, Becker averaged 12.5 assists per set.
