Cape Cod, Mass. - November 30, 2009 - Senior Morgan Rein was picked as a 2009 ECAC Division III New England Region Field Hockey All-Star on Monday as she was named to the regional first team.Since the season has ended, Rein has received numerous postseason awards. She was selected as a Longstreth/NFHCA Division III All-America Second Team honoree, to the NFHCA New England East Region First Team, and to the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) First Team.
Rein had a breakout senior season for the Pride. The Mystic, Conn. native finished the campaign with a team-best 36 points, tying for the team-lead in goals with 11 and leading the offense with 14 assists. She recorded five game-winning goals serving as a co-captain. Rein also finished the year as the league leader in assists per game with 0.67.
On November 22, Rein competed in the NFHCA Division III Senior All-Star Game at Mount Holyoke College. Rein was outstanding, capping off her collegiate career with a goal in that game.
After eight years as head coach of the Pride, Melissa Sharpe, has continued the SC tradition of winning on the field hockey turf, posting an impressive 120-58 record, good for a winning percentage of .674 at the helm of her alma mater. Read more.
