Women’s Track & Field Competes at Cardinal Invitational

MIDDLETOWN, Conn., December 3, 2005 - Springfield College freshman Silvienne Krosendijk (Seroe Biento, Aruba) took first place in the 200-meter dash and the long jump, as the Pride dominated the Cardinal Invitational hosted by Wesleyan University on Saturday afternoon (Dec. 3).

Krosendijk jumped 17 feet, eight and inches to win the long jump by over two feet; she won the 200-meter dash in a time of 27.25 seconds. Pride senior Yasmin Goris (Worcester, Mass.) ran to victory in the 55-meter dash with a time of 7.36 seconds. The Pride also raced to victory in the 4 x 200, 4 x 400, and 4 x 800-meter relays.

In other field events, SC junior Nicole Wassell (Hebron, Conn.) took first place in the pole vault with a seven foot, six inch vault. Pride freshman Amy Walter (South Burlington, Vt.) won the triple jump with a leap of 32 feet, one inch. The meet was a non-team scoring competition.

The Pride travels to Harvard University on Saturday, December 10 for its final competition before the winter break.
