Men's Soccer Stuns Babson, 3-0

SPRINGFIELD, Mass., Oct. 25, 2003 – Springfield College senior forward Ryan Lavner (Shrewsbury, Mass.) scored twice as the Pride defeated Babson College, 3-0, in a New England Women and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) match this afternoon at Brock-Affleck Field.

Lavner’s first goal came in the 69th minute off of a pass from freshman midfielder Matt Sullivan (Springfield, Mass.). In the 82nd minute, Lavner took advantage of a free kick from the top of the goalie box for his second goal.

Along with the assist, Sullivan added the match’s first goal in the 63rd minute after Babson tried to clear the ball from their box. The ball landed directly in front of Sullivan, who blasted it in for the winning goal.

SC improves to 3-9-3 (1-2-2 NEWMAC) while the Beavers drop to 5-8-3 (1-4-1 NEWMAC). The Pride will be back in action when it hosts Skidmore on Tuesday, Oct. 28 at 3:00 p.m. at Brock-Affleck Field.
