



SPRINGFIELD, Mass., January 25, 2006 - Springfield College junior Jillian Silverman (Ipswich, Mass.) has been named the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Women’s Gymnastics Specialist of the Week, in a report announced by the conference office last Monday afternoon, January 16.
Silverman, a native of Ipswich, Mass., has had a tremendous start to her junior season at SC. In the Pride’s season-opening meet, a 179.375-173.175 win over MIT (Jan. 11), Silverman captured the vault competition with a score of 9.475. In the meet, Silverman also finished third in the uneven parallel bars (8.900) and sixth overall in the balance beam (8.675).
In SC’s next competition, a January 14th meet at the University of Bridgeport with Southern Connecticut State University (SCSU), Silverman won the vault with a 9.550 score and finished second on the uneven parallel bars, scoring an 8.875.
After the Pride’s first three meets of the 2006 season, SC has compiled a 2-2 overall mark to start. The Pride will next travel to Rhode Island College for a meet on Saturday afternoon, January 28, in a 1:00 p.m. start.
