Men's Gymnastics Sweeps Tri-Meet
SPRINGFIELD, Mass., Jan. 26, 2003 – Springfield College junior
Mike Smith (Salt Lake City, Utah) finished first in the all-around with a score of 49.650 as the Pride swept a tri-meet with Southern Connecticut State and Vermont.
SC scored 197.000 followed by Southern Connecticut, which had 180.325, and Vermont (a club team), which totaled 161.600.
Smith also placed first in the floor exercise (8.600) and on the parallel bars (8.550). Junior
Tim Goetz (South Plainfield, N.J.) finished first in the vault (9.100), horizontal bar (8.100), and the still rings (9.000). Sophomore
Nelson Jimenez (Salem, N.H.) was second on the vault (8.900) and third in the all-around (44.950).
Southern Connecticut’s Ben Beaulieu, a senior, finished second in the all-around (48.525), on the horizontal bar (8.100), and on the parallel bars (8.250).
On the women’s side Bridgeport defeated the Pride, 182.225-177.225. SC senior
Trisha Talerico (Rome, N.Y.) placed second on the vault (9.400) and on the beam (9.400). Sophomore
Amanda Roth (Bloomsfield, N.Y.) was third on the beam (9.450) and on the vault (9.325).
Bridgeport senior Joey Kochanski won the all-around (37.125), the floor exercise (9.450), and on the beam (9.650).

Overall Records: Springfield 1-1, Southern Connecticut 1-1
Women’s Gymnastics: Bridgeport 182.225, Springfield 177.225
