Williams Takes Early Lead in the NE Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships

2011 New England Division III Championships Complete Results

Springfield, Mass. -- February 18, 2011 -- Thanks to a 1-2 finish in the pentathlon, Williams College has taken the Day 1 lead in this year's New England Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships taking place at the Springfield College Field House today and tomorrow. Williams has totaled 18 points, followed by Bates and Tufts with 8 points apiece.

Colby has four points, Southern Maine one.

Only nine competitors, representing only five differnt teams, participated in the pentathlon, the day's one event.

Tomorrow's competition begins at 11 am in the Field House.

Placing first and second in today's pentathlon were senior Isaac Nicholson and sophomore Chrs Fogler, each of Williams College. The duo combined for 18 team points -- 10 for first place, eight for second.

Nicholson scored 3539 points. Broken down, it was 761 in the 55 hurdles (8.29 seconds), 707 in the long jump (6.54 meters), 588 in the shot put (11.70 meters), 687 in the high jump (1.87 meters), and 796 in the 100 meters (2:47.10).
