Lynch, Serriello, and Giannelli Earn USILA All-America Honors

Lynch, Serriello, and Giannelli Earn USILA All-America Honors Springfield, Mass. - May 16, 2014 -The Springfield College men's lacrosse team had a trio student-athletes be named to the 2014 United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Division III Honorable Mention All-America Team. Bryce Serriello (Cape Cod, Mass.), Matt Giannelli (Norwich, Conn.), and Ryon Lynch (Frederick, Md.) each garnered the national recognition for the first time in their careers.

This marks the second time in the past three seasons that the Springfield College men's lacrosse team has had three USILA All-America selections.

Much in part to the play of these three student-athletes, the Pride won its seventh-straight conference championship and reached the second round of the NCAA Championship. Springfield finished the season with a 15-4 record, marking the second most wins for a season in program history.

Giannelli, a senior close defenseman and captain for the Pride had a strong senior campaign, anchoring a defensive unit that only allowed 8.21 goals per game, including just 4.00 per game to conference opponents during the regular season. A NEWMAC All-Conference First Team and NEILA All-New England First Team honoree, the Sports Biology major picked up 36 ground balls and caused 13 turnovers.

Serriello, a Recreational Management major, was a force for Springfield, leading the team with 45 goals, the 10th-highest single season mark in program history. A sharp-shooter from the midfield, the junior finished the season with 51 points and was a NEWMAC All-Conference First Team and NEILA All-New England First Team selection.

Lynch, who previously was named the NEWMAC Player of the Year honors capped off his illustrious career with another season for the record books. Pacing an offense that averaged 14 goals per game, the Physical Education major posted 84 points, including 32 goals and 52 assists. His 84 points were the seventh most in the program's single-season history, while in his career, Lynch totaled 227 points, the sixth-most all time in program history. Quarterbacking the Pride's offense for the past three years, Lynch's 133 careers assists is the third-highest total in Springfield history.
