Meet Head Coach Joe Eadie
enters his 19th season as the head men's golf coach at Springfield College in the fall of 2012.
Eadie is the head golf professional at the Fenway Golf Range in nearby East Longmeadow, and is in the process of becoming a PGA Professional.
A native of Springfield, Eadie is a graduate of Putnam High School, where he was a baseball, soccer, and wrestling standout.
Eadie has competed in several professional tournaments and won the Kinny Open Tournament in Hartford, Connecticut, in September 1997. He also has finished in the top 10 at the Boston Open Tournament three different years. In the past he played on the Silver State Tour in Las Vegas, Nevada, and the Golden State Tour in California.
In the summer of 1998 Eadie played golf with former president George Bush and 1997 PGA champion Davis Love III.
One of the main highlights of Eadie's tenure at Springfield College came during the fall of 2008, Springfield's first year as a member of the New England Collegiate Conference. Eadie's troops went out and easily won the inaugural conference men's golf tournament by 30 strokes over the second-place team at Chicopee Golf Club in nearby Chicopee, Mass. In the process, senior Greg Levings
earned medalist honors and was named the NECC Player of the Year. Levings, senior Mike Lajoie
, who was the tourney's individual runner-up, and sophomore Craig DiFranco
, were all named First Team All-NECC. For his efforts, Eadie was honored as the NECC Coach of the Year.
Other Eadie highlights include: capturing the third straight City Championship over American International and Western New England in 1997; and winning the first CAC Tournament crown and qualifying for its second straight Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Tournament in 1996.
Springfield also finished first in the spring of 1997 at the Franklin Pierce College Invitational Tournament and fourth among 17 teams at the Massachusetts Intercollegiate Golf Tournament Championship.
In 2005, the Pride hosted the ECAC Division III Championships at Hampden Country Club in Hampden, Mass., as Eadie's squad tallied a team total of 315 strokes to finish in a tie for fifth out of 19 competing teams. SC's total of 315 for the day was just nine off the leaders (Salem State, 306). Also in the fall of 2005, the Pride finished third out of nine squads at the Blazers Invitational, hosted by Elms College at Chicopee Country Club.
In 2006, the Pride finished 1st (of 6 teams) in the Franklin Pierce Invitational at Shattuck Golf Club in Jaffrey, N.H. Greg Levings
earned medalist honors. SC also placed 5th (of 17 teams) in the ECAC's, and later finished T19th of 43 at the New Englands.
In 2007, SC finished 3rd (of 20 teams) at the ECAC's at Chicopee GC with 624 strokes. Craig DiFranco placed sixth and Greg Levings 10th in that tourney.
