No. 11 Wrestling Captures Doug Parker Crown
SPRINGFIELD, Mass., November 23, 2002- Springfield College senior
Mark Mendes (Brockton, Mass.) won the 157-pound division at the 13th annual Doug Parker Invitational to help lead the Pride to victory on Saturday. Springfield finished with a total team score of 105, eleven points ahead of the second place finishers of Norwich and Johnson and Wales.
Springfield also received strong contributons from sophomore
Brian Viglione (Chelmsford, Mass.) as he placed second in the 165-pound division. Also coming in second, in the 197-pound division, was Springfield sophomore
P.J. Rovinelli (Framingham, Mass.). In the hwt. division, it was Springfield freshman
Phillip McGeough (Clifton Park, N.J.) who gave Springfield yet another second-place finish.
The Pride will next be competing at home againts the WPI Engineers on Wednesday, December 4, at 8:00 p.m.
