The championship was originally scheduled to take place on the campus of MIT. However, it was determined to be in the best interests of all involved for the championship competition to be moved to a new location.
The Pride, which was ranked first in the country in the latest AVCA Division III National Coaches Poll, earned one of three at-large berths into the field of nine teams. Springfield closed out the regular season winning its last 23 matches, and enters the Championship with a 29-3 record.
Springfield will square off in the national quarterfinals on Friday, April 26 against the winner of the Endicott (22-9) and Kean (25-7 ) at 12:30 pm.
On the same side of the bracket as Springfield, Baruch (33-5) will battle Stevens (25-8) on Friday at 3:00 pm. In the bottom half of the bracket, the University of California-Santa Cruz (15-7) plays Nazareth College (34-1) at 5:30 pm, while Juniata (24-11) will play Rivier College (26-11) at 8:00 pm. The championship continues with two semifinal matches on Saturday, April 27 and the championship match on Sunday, April 28.
