WILLIAMSBURG, Va., March 25, 2007 – Freshman Keith Stumpf of Springfield College has earned All-American status as a result of his performance at the USAG Men’s Gymnastics Championships at the College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia this past weekend.
Stumpf (Williamsville, N.Y.) finished fourth in the vault with a score of 8.05. The top score in that event was produced by William & Mary’s Dave Locke with an 8.40.
Three others for Springfield College also reached the finals, but just missed All-American status.
They were junior JJ Ferreira (Naugatuck, Conn.) in the floor exercise (8.20), sophomore Andrew Kelly (Marstons Mills, Mass.) in the parallel bars (7.50), and junior Matthew Davis (Southboro, Mass.) in the high bar (7.45). All finished eighth.
On Saturday night, SC finished fourth of six as a team with a score of 179.750. Placing first as a team was host William & Mary (199.850), followed by Navy (198.000), Air Force (191.300), SC (179.750), MIT (176.850), and James Madison (160.450).
Up next, Springfield College will compete at the ECAC’s at Temple University in Philadelphia on Friday-Saturday, March 30-31.
