Ithaca, N.Y. -- January 28, 2012 -- Despite some good scores from Brittany Baglow and Lauren Pocius, the Springfield College women's gymnastics team was only able to split results in a tri-meet this afternoon at Ithaca College. Ithaca was the overall winner with a score of 184.200, followed by Springfield at 181.400, and Rhode Island College at 168.925.
Baglow, a junior from nearby Amherst, Mass., was her usual competitive self. She finished in a tie for first in the vault with a score of 9.625, tied for first in the balance beam at 9.600, and was second in the floor exercise at 9.550. Overall, she placed second in the all-around with a score of 36.375.
Jessica Bolduc of Ithaca finished first in the all-around at 37.725.
Pocius, a freshman from Wallingford, Conn., also had a very good meet for the Pride. She finished first in the uneven parallel bars at 9.350, and was fifth in the balance beam at 9.150. She placed third in the all-around at 35.900.
Other notable scores for SC included freshman Rachel Mattison (Andover, Mass.) in the bars at 9.225, placing her third in that event, and senior Carly Flynn (Franklin, Mass.) with a third in the vault at 9.475.
In addition, junior Annemarie Graziosa (Eastchester, N.Y.) tied for fifth in the vault at 9.250, and freshman Abby Clark (Holderness, N.H.) placed sixth in the floor exercise with a 9.275. Clark also took a third in the balance beam with a 9.475.
